Our History

In 1970, our first fire house was built with the help of donations from the community.

With the purchase a 1950 Chevrolet truck from a flea market, members proceeded to build the pump and tank themselves to complete our first official fire truck.

Around 1975, five or six members took out personal loans to purchase a 250-gallon pumper. A few of these dedicated members still remain active in the fire department.

Grants from the Forest Service and other sources help provide funds for us to purchase some of our additional equipment. Through the years, most of our equipment has continued to be constructed and maintained by our members.

Training came through books and videos, and as some firemen became proficient, they trained others. As the community has grown, so has the department. We schedule routine training sessions and are taking measures to keep our equipment up to date.

You can view some of our sessions and in-action photos on our Facebook page. Pictured below is PCVFD’s first fire truck.
